But because we don’t need any global ordering of nodes, it’s very easy to have a dynamic push step as well, as each node only needs to keep a list of its upstream and downstream immediate neighbours. This structure is typically much easier to manipulate than maintaining a globally ordered list (and a lot cheaper than performing a fresh topological sort every time we want to evaluate nodes).
