The Aesop's Fable experiment recreates the ancient tale where crows elevate water levels by adding stones. Researchers present food floating in narrow tubes, observing whether subjects will raise water levels by inserting objects. Several corvid species not only solve this puzzle but distinguish between effective (heavy) and ineffective (buoyant) materials. Ancient folklore appears to have documented actual corvid behavior.
