The main reason I decided on purely positional parameters was the introduction of spine constructors. Spine constructors are implicitly generated by the compiler, and thus have no explicit names for the parameters. I considered giving the parameters implicitly generated names _0, _1, _2, ... like I do for tuples, but decided that there was no point. Without subkinding, there’s no real benefit to named parameters, and with spine constructors, there’s a real cost in confusion and complexity to having named parameters. Therefore, it was better to just switch to purely positional parameters.
